EPB Say They Are Working With The City On Billing Error Accusations and Global Green Lighting CEO Files Lawsuit Against EPB

CHATTANOOGA,TN, (WDEF)-EPB has been at the forefront of bringing Chattanooga into the international spotlight as the gig city.
That spotlight is shining right now on the accounting practices and how much EPB’s services have cost the city.

"We just simply want the city of Chattanooga to be repaid for the charges they have had"

Don Lepard believes EPB over-charged the city of Chattanooga to the tune of nearly 6 million dollars.
He has turned that belief into a 10 million dollar lawsuit against EPB.
Lepard owns Global Green Lighting, a company which had a falling out with the City of Chattanooga over hi-tech LED street lights. EPB clarified to News 12 their only role was to provide labor to install those new lights.

"We are not trying to retaliate or cause any trouble based off of the history"

EPB admits to under-billing Chattanooga for it’s services, and has begun the process of addressing their internal accounting errors.
EPB voluntarily handed over all account information to a group appointed by Mayor Andy Berke and is cooperating with the city.

City Council’s Larry Grohn believes a report to city council next week could shed some light on EPB spending.

"EPB was not proactive in doing what they should do to be the most efficient entity for the citizens and be doing the very best to give us the quality service at the lowest possible price"

EPB’s John Pless say’s they have not been yet been served with any lawsuit by Lepard, and CEO Harold DePriest added the utility is committed to working with the city.
