Shoplifting Suspect Who Crashed at News 12 Heading to Prison

The shoplifting suspect who ran his car through our parking lot here at News 12 last December will spend four-years in prison.  A judge handed down that sentence Monday.

20-year old Sawyer Clanton tried to steal more than $500 worth of x-box controllers, playstation controllers, and a 12-pack of bud light from the Lookout Valley Wal-Mart.

Officers spotted him on Cummings Highway and chased him.  Clanton drove into our parking lot, hit one of our vehicles and a stone picnic table.

He eventually crashed into a gate at Chattem and was taken into custody.
