East Hamilton 30 in 30 looking to take that next big step
OOLTEWAH, Tennessee (WDEF)-East Hamilton football season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs last year. This year head coach Grant Reynolds is stressing the importance of taking that next big step in the postseason.
“Which means we need to win the big games. We want to play for regional championships and state championships. We’ve gotta get over that hump to where we can win those big games. That’s what we’ve been focusing on the summer,” said Reynolds.
“Last year, I think we underachieved. We just have to keep getting better every day and just go from there,” said Clark.
One of those players looking to lead the postseason charge is Senior QB, Lake Clark. As a returning starter, he has gained the trust and confidence of his teammates.
“With an experienced quarterback, it means a lot. He knows the kids. He knows the guys he’s throwing the ball to. He’s got a good feel for what to do with it once it snapped to him and we’re really excited to have him back,” said Reynolds.
“Definitely came back with more confidence and we’re ready to go. Make sure everyone’s doing the right thing and completing every rep in the weight room, just getting after it every day in practice,” said Clark.
As the start of the season is rapidly approaching Reynolds is maneuvering the line between reps and peaking at the right time of the season.
“You don’t wanna get too many snaps too early. You try to limit the number of snaps you get with your older kids and work some young kids and just try to ease into it a little bit,” said Reynolds.
