Meet 23 year old school board member Tucker McClendon

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Hamilton County School Board will have some new faces at their meeting starting in September.

Last night, 23-year-old Tucker McClendon won the district 8 seat against incumbent David Testerman.

McClendon says he wants to be apart of bringing positive change to the district.

He is a product of the Hamilton County School system.

McClendon graduated from Ooltewah High School in 20-13.

In May, he graduated from U-T-C with a degree in political science.

He says his age never deterred him from running.

” I would run into it on the campaign trail with people saying you are 23 and all that. I had a lot of positive words said about it. They said they are glad that new blood is getting into the system. And they are looking forward to having new ideas and a new perspective on the board.”

The other new member of the school board is Jenny Hill.
