Local reaction to the passing of Queen Elizabeth

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The news of the queen’s passing has, of course, reached local residents here in Chattanooga.
News 12 spoke with long-time radio personality Richard Winham about the queen’s passing.

Winham was born and raised across the pond in England and said Queen Elizabeth felt like a part of his family.

He says others felt the same.

“They told me when I came here, ‘Great Britain doesn’t exist, son. You come from England.’ But most people in England still think of it as Great Britain and that’s the legacy of her generation, which has now passed.”

Reverend Brad Whitaker of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chattanooga says, “Her Majesty was known to be a person of deep faith who devoted her life to the service of others.”

“May her soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace and rise in glory.”
