ACT Scores Increase in Hamilton County

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Hamilton County school district is celebrating a tremendous accomplishment.

The ACT scores of 12 area high schools have increased significantly.

Take a look at some footage from the celebration at Ooltewah High.

Hamilton County School Board officials boarded a school bus and visited each school to honor the students and school staff for their accomplishments.

The 2016 college readiness data scores for English, math, reading and science show an across the board improvement by Hamilton County Students.

The increase is greater than anyone in the state and the nation.

“We were one of the most improved schools in ACT scores and that’s thanks to the students and the teachers and the staff here at Ooltewah. It’s very hard to improve scores even by a tenth of a percent. So having our scores go up a whole percentage, was incredible.” said Robin Copp

Approximately 90 percent of Hamilton County students took the A-C-T…and about 59 percent of students took it nationwide.
