Addiction Campuses kicks off its first 5 Cities/5 Days Tour
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Addiction Campuses will be hitting five cities in just five days, starting in Chattanooga. The nationwide alcohol and substance abuse treatment center is visiting five major cities in Tennessee to raise awareness for National Recovery Month.
“We’re letting people know that it’s nothing to be ashamed of. That they can get help, and that we are a resource for them if they need help and are struggling with an addiction,” said Brian Sullivan, PR manager for Addiction Campuses.
Monday the organization made their first stop at the Chattanooga Riverpark where they offered free on-site assessments, educational pamphlets and food to anyone who stopped by.
The five-day event is being held in response to the CDC’s recent report, listing Tennessee as one of the top states in painkiller prescriptions, “Tennessee averages 143 prescriptions per 100 people, so there’s a huge prescription pain killer abuse problem,” said Sullivan.
This is Addiction Campuses’ first time hosting a 5 Cities/5 Days Tour, but Sullivan said it surely won’t be their last, “Because we celebrate life and hope, that is what we’re about. We don’t point fingers, we reach our hands down and help people up.”
If you or a loved one needs help with substance abuse, Addiction Campuses offers a 24/7 hotline that can be reached at: 1-888-614-2251.
The next stop for the organization will be in Knoxville, TN, where they will loop around the state ending in Memphis on the 11th.
