Alabama-based HealthSouth relocating offices

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – The Alabama-based HealthSouth Corp. is relocating its offices in Birmingham.

The rehabilitation company plans to break ground Monday on a new corporate headquarters off Interstate 459. The new site will be a few miles north of the company’s current complex on U.S. 280.

Speakers will include retiring HealthSouth CEO Jay Grinney and Birmingham Mayor William Bell.

HealthSouth announced plans to move last December. It sold its current location to another company in 2008 and has been leasing space there ever since.

HealthSouth calls itself one of the nation’s largest providers of post-acute health care services. It operates in 34 states and Puerto Rico with a network of rehabilitation hospitals, home health agencies and hospice providers.
