Arrest made in CARTA liquid attack from last year

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Last fall, Chattanooga Police were called to a an unusual type of assault at the CARTA headquarters.

Around 7 AM, a woman wearing gloves approached some employees as they were arriving for work.

Witnesses say she threw an unknown liquid onto a woman, which then splashed on four other people.

HAZMAT crews determined the liquid was not life threatening, but officials have not said what it was.

But the victim was treated for burns.

The woman fled and was not captured, until now.

11 months later, Chattanooga Police announce the arrest of Maja Madesha Garcia-Thompson.

She is charged with Aggravated Assault and Reckless Endangerment.

Police are not commenting on the motivation for the attack at this time.
