Arrest made in Wilcox Boulevard shooting death

Law enforcement have arrested a suspect in Chattanooga’s first shooting homicide of 2022.

33-year-old Zachary Smith was arrested in Bridgeport, Alabama through a cooperative law enforcement effort.

Smith faces several charges, including criminal homicide and reckless endangerment in the January 1st murder of 27-year-old Ladarius Howard.

According to Chattanooga police, Howard was sitting in a car in the 2200 block of Wilcox Boulevard when a suspect came up to the car and began firing.

Howard was taken to a local hospital, but later died of his injuries.
