At least 8 vehicles involved in Dalton I-75 crash Thursday

DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) — Georgia State Patrol officers are still investigating after a multi-vehicle wreck happened on I-75 in Dalton on Thursday. The entire interstate was shut down after the crash.

The crash happened on I-75 southbound at mile marker 328.

Traffic was slowed or stopped on the interstate prior to the crash.

A Freightliner RV was traveling south in the right lane when it rear-ended a Jeep Compass. This caused the Jeep to rear-end a GMC Sierra, which then rear-ended a Hyundai Palisade.

After the RV struck the Jeep, it traveled into the middle lane and back into the right lane. There, it struck the left side of a Dodge Ram. The RV then struck the rear of a Ford Expedition.

That Ford then rear-ended a Ram 1500, which then struck the rear of a Chevrolet Equinox.

A 66-year-old man from Illinois, Boyd Head, was driving the RV. Officers have not identified the female that was driving the Jeep Compass.

However, Life Force transported the driver of the Jeep to Erlanger. The GSP said she was in stable condition.

They did not release any more information, since the investigation is ongoing.
