Authorities Arrest 3 suspects in Fort Oglethorpe Officer-Involved Shooting

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer involved shooting.

It happened Monday afternoon near a busy shopping center in Fort Oglethorpe

Fort Oglethorpe Police initially responded to a shoplifting call at the Wal-Mart Supercenter.

GBI special agent, Greg Ramey, said three suspects traveled from Wal-Mart down Battlefield Parkway in a blue Toyota Camry.

A few minutes later officers stopped the suspect’s vehicle at Stuart Road.

“After initiating the stop, one of the suspects in the vehicle fled. Two occupants stayed in the vehicle. A second patrol officer had arrived and stayed with the vehicle. Shortly after that, the vehicle attempted to leave and drove in the direction of the officer, he fired one time.”

Officers chased the one that was on foot and located the suspect to Battlewood Apartments.

GBI said all three suspects had warrants out for their arrest.

Fort Oglethorpe Police Department is just a few minutes down the road from the scene of the incident.

Ramey said being so close played major role in catching the suspects.

“This was obviously a busy time of the day. I think they have patrol being very active and obviously it helped having, being this close from the main part of the town so they could get to it quickly.

No one was injured in the incident.

GBI said after they finish their investigation, they will hand things over to the district attorney for Catoosa County for judicial review

Justin Lewis posted these photos of the suspect arrests.
