Bama Seeking Better Road Trip to Rocky Top
Alabama has looked unstoppable at home this year.
But on the road, they’ve been pretty ordinary.
The Tide hopes to change that this weekend when they visit rival Tennessee on Rocky Top.
Said Nick Saban,"This game that we have every year with Tennessee is one of the great rivalry games in college football."
But it hasn’t been much of a rivalry in recent years with Bama winning seven straight. But Nick Saban expects it will get tougher and tougher to beat Butch Jones and the Vols.
"Butch has done a really good job there. They’ve done a good job of recruiting. Their players really play hard with a lot of discipline. They don’t get penalized much."
Tennessee is 3-4 overall heading into their match-up with Alabama.
Said Saban,"Tennessee has a much improved team. I think it starts with the fact they’ve got very good skill players and a very good quarterback. Defensively, they’re much improved. Almost 100 yards a game less yards than a year ago. They lose by three to Georgia, and they lose by one point to Florida or else they’re a 5-2 team, and everybody looks at them in a completely different light."
Bama’s game plan is pretty straight forward.
Said Saban,"The thing that we need to do is focus on what we need to do to dominate the line of scrimmage and try to affect the quarterback in a way that will not allow them to make the plays with their really good skill players that they have."
And if you’re going to dominate, might as well have fun.
Something that seemed to be missing for the Tide until last Saturday against Texas A&M.
Said running back Jalston Fowler,"Coach Saban let us do something that he never let us do before. That’s just like get hyped on the sidelines. Usually when he comes up or walks up to you, you freeze up. And go oh, I’m about to get in trouble. This time he just let us party and have fun."
