Baylor Beats GPS 9-1 to Claim State Softball Championship
The Baylor softball team beat rival GPS 9-1 on Friday afternoon in Murfreesboro to claim the Division II-AA state championship.
For the Red Raiders, it was their 10th overall state championship, and their fifth state title in the last six years.
Baylor loaded the bases in the first inning, and Kamrie Rich drove in two runs on a base hit down the third base line.
Rich finished the game with four RBI’s.
Crosby Huckabay extended Baylor’s lead to 3-0 in the second inning on an RBI base hit to right.
Baylor carried a 3-1 lead into the sixth inning when they exploded for six runs to seal the victory.
Kayla Hughes went the distance in the circle finishing with five strikeouts.
