Hamilton Co. Health Department provides information on measles
The Tennessee Department of Health recently confirmed the state’s first two measles cases in 20 years.
The Hamilton County Health Department says while these cases are located more than two hours away from Chattanooga, this milestone serves as a helpful reminder of how easily the virus can spread.
They say because measles is highly contagious, it can spread before someone even realizes they are sick.
Key facts to keep in mind:
Delayed Symptoms: Signs of measles can take days to appear after exposure, but the virus spreads very rapidly in under-vaccinated communities. What to Do: If you or a family member ever suspects exposure, contact your healthcare provider right away.
