Baylor Opens Season With 42-21 Victory Over Notre Dame
Chattanooga-(WDEF) After falling behind 7-0 to start the second quarter, Baylor scored 42 unanswered points on their way to a season opening
42-21 win over Notre Dame on Thursday night at Finley Stadium.
The Irish scored on the first play of the second quarter as Akil Sledge weaved his way through the Red Raiders for a 12-yard touchdown.
Baylor answered moments later on a beautiful deep ball from quarterback Lorenzo White. He hit receiver Jaylon Baker in stride for a
roughly 70-yard touchdown strike to tie the game.
On Notre Dame’s next series, Jaylon Baker got an interception, which he returned to the Irish 18 yard line.
Then on fourth down from the Notre Dame one yard line, running back Brendon Harris lined up in the wildcat formation and took the direct snap in for a touchdown to make it 14-7.
Harris then added a 25-yard touchdown run before halftime as the Red Raiders led it 21-7 at the break.
Baylor then put the game away with three touchdowns in the third period, including a 24-yard touchdown pass from White to Clay Thames to open the second half.
The Red Raiders cruised to the 42-21 victory.
