Baylor Shortstop Cheyenne Lindsey Finishing Fabulous High School Career at Spring Fling

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Baylor softball team will try to bring home their fourth consecutive state title this week at Spring Fling. And leading the way for the Lady Raiders will be senior short stop Cheyenne Lindsey, who will finish up one of the best softball career’s in Baylor history this week in Murfreesboro.

To watch Cheyenne Lindsey play, you would think she was created in some sort of softball factory.
Said Baylor head coach Kelli Smith:”You know the ability to drop a bunt two feet from the plate and get to first base in 2.7 seconds. Or stand there in the box and hit one 300 feet.”
Said catcher Kamrie Rich:”It’s definitely her hand speed. Her hand speed is amazing. She can hit them over and slap them over.”
Lindsey’s speed is amazing as well.
Said Lindsey:”When I get on first base, I just worry about if I can see around the first baseman because I know I”m going to be stealing.” (laughter)
Lindsey is Baylor’s career stolen base leader. And get this. Baylor has played 34 games this season, and Lindsey has scored 49 runs. She has a .535 batting average, so she’s always on base.
Said Smith:”She has always batted over .500 for us at Baylor even as an 8th grader. Yeah her batting average never dropped below .500.
What’s fueling Lindsey’s success? Breakfast cereal.
Said Rich:”Normally when she hits a homerun. She gets Fruit Loops. Eats Fruit Loops that day. The last time we played here in the playoffs, I actually Fruit Loops, and I hit two home runs. We were just kind of. I was like hey Cheyenne, I ate my Fruit Loops today.” (chuckles)
Look for Lindsey to eat a lot of Fruit Loops next year when she plays for the Florida Gators.
Said Lindsey”Honestly, I never thought softball would get me so far as it has today, but I’ve worked really hard, and I tried my best.”
