Beware: new gas scam targeting Americans

Police are warning Americans about new gas scams as prices remain high.

We’ve had gas pump skimmers for years now.

But police say thieves are using lower tech devices to steal your money at the pump.

Some can even insert a screw into the nozzle cradle.

It keeps the pump from shutting off.

So after you leave, the thief can fill up on your credit card.

Police advise that you use a gas station you trust.

And they suggest picking a pump closer to the attendant.

Scammers will often pick the furthest pump from the office so they won’t be spotted.
