Blood Assurance in Desperate Need of Donors

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)-Blood Assurance is asking for the public’s health as their blood supply is running dangerously low.

They’re saying in recent weeks, donations have been lower than normal putting them and local hospitals in a difficult situation.

Donors of all blood types are needed to help get them back to the needed supply.

The CEO of Blood Assurance, JB Gaskins, said that, “Right now we are critical on most blood types, especially O positive and O negative. We have less than a day supply of O negative and less than a half a day supply on our shelves right now in our territory. It is very difficult to supply the hospitals what they need for patients when you don’t have the blood on your shelf.”

Blood Assurance normally wants about 3 to 5 days of supply of all blood types in reserve. You can walk into any Blood Assurance location or go to their website at to set up an appointment. They are open 7 days a week.
