Body Found off Sheeler Street in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) – Cleveland Police say they are investigating a body found off Sheeler Street in Cleveland.

Police say around 11:30 am they were called to Sheeler Street on a body found in a ditch.

When they arrived, officers say they found a white male, identified as Jeffery Donovan.

Donovan’s body was found, face down, in the east side ditch.

Officers say bicycle was about 15 feet away from him, also in the ditch.

Members of the Cleveland Police Crash Response Team responded and investigated at the scene.

Investigators determined, by looking at evidence, that no other vehicles were involved and foul play is not suspected.

Homeowners told police they heard a “muffled type thud around 11:30 pm Friday night.

Police say this part of Sheeler street is a very long and steep hill that runs southward.

Investigators determined that the marks at the scene indicate that Mr. Donovan gained a high rate of speed traveling down the hill and left the roadway, before hiting a utility pole.

Evie West, with the Cleveland Police Department says, the injuries Mr. Donovan sustained from striking the pole and the large rocks in the ditch were fatal.
