Cleveland, TN (WDEF) Sheriff Eric Watson wants to make sure Bradley County residents feel safe when they’re at church.

He’s holding a "Meeting the Challenges of Church Violence" Monday night at 6 p.m. at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff will speak on "Responding to Threats in the Church Setting."

Lt. James Bradford with Judicial Services says, "Trying to be proactive about church violence that’s going on in our nation. Here in Cleveland we have two of the major denominations, their general offices are here. The Church of God, the Church of God the Prophecy and Bradley County is known as the bible belt, and we’re just trying to make sure that in the event of a church has some kind of violent encounter, that the pastor and the staff are equipped with the knowledge."
