Brush Fire Consumes Five Acres on Lookout Mountain

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- You may have seen a smoke plume this afternoon coming from the side of Lookout Mountain.
A brush fire occurred around 1 p.m. this afternoon.
It was visible for miles including from the News 12 Studios.
Chattanooga firefighters say that the brush fire burned five acres and impacted no structures off of West 39th Street in St. Elmo.
One resident who lived near the fire in Saint Elmo said that a neighbor of theirs was burning cardboard boxes when a ember caught the nearby brush on fire on accident.
They wanted to remain anonymous but urge everyone to use caution when burning materials outdoors.
