Calling all anglers! Observe TVA’s fall fish survey on Chickamauga Lake

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Tennessee Valley Authority biologists will conduct their fall aquatic survey beginning at 8:30am Wednesday, October 7th.
The goal is to assess the overall health of fish and other aquatic life at Chickamauga reservoir.
TVA encourages all angling enthusiasts and other interested members of the public to come observe, either in a TVA boat or with your own vessel, but they ask you to bring your won life jacket.
Crews will meet at the Kings Point boat ramp near Chickamauga Dam, that’s adjacent to Chickamauga Marine in Chickamauga boat harbor off Highway 58.
TVA biologists use boat-mounted electro-fishing equipment to harmlessly stun the fish for a brief time and cause them to surface so they can be collected, examined and evaluated. Once weighed, measured and counted, the fish are released. Crews will also be collecting and observing benthic macroinvertibrates, which are small bottom-dwelling animals that live in or near the water.
If you’re interested in joining the TVA biologists on the survey, call the TVA Public Land Information Center at 800-882-5263, or email plic@TVA.com to schedule a time.
