CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A national relay made its way through the Tennessee Valley today.

Carry the Load is a 20-thousand mile national relay where participants carry the American flag to honor fallen veterans.

One of the routes goes from Burlington, VT to Dallas, TX.

This route made its way from Dalton to Dunlap today with stops in Fort Oglethorpe, Rossville, and Chattanooga.

Hunter Lovelace,  a videographer for Carry the Load, said, “It’s really special. You get to come out, especially me as a college student, that’s my way of giving back but when you actually get to sit down and speak to some of these veterans, you see the relief in their eyes saying that people actually understand the struggles that they went through. What they’ve been through, along with somebody is taking time out of their day to honor their fallen brothers.”

Carry the Load fundraises throughout their relay, giving back to nearly 50 veteran related nonprofits.

They also honor and help out with first responder related causes.
