RINGGOLD, Georgia (WDEF) – School leaders in Catoosa County announced on Wednesday their plans to make schools safer in the county.
The board approved five new School Resource Officers for the elementary schools.
They now have seven SROs in the secondary schools.
Superintendent Denia Reese said “They are armed and ready for any crisis situation. However we see the officers, In our schools and their daily informal interactions with students as one of their greatest benefits.”
There will be a permanent SRO in one of the elementary schools, the rest will rotate.
The cost ($400,000) will be split between the school board and county government.
They will begin patrolling in the next school year.
