Cave rescue helps man get out of Raccoon Mountain Caverns
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Fire Department helper a man get out of Raccoon Mountain Caverns this afternoon.
He twisted his ankle more than a half mile down into the cavern.
Firefighters and Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue’s Cave-Cliff Team went in to help him out.
It turned into an ordeal.
He was able to walk some of the way, and was carried in a Stokes rescue basket through parts of tghe cave.
The trip out took 3 hours.
The man declined emergency treatment when he did get out of the cave.
