Central Beats Walker Valley 48-36 in Season Opener at Finley Stadium

Chattanooga-(WDEF) Central raced out to an 18-0 lead, and then they held on to beat Walker Valley 48-36 in their season opener on Thursday at Finley Stadium.
This was the second contest of the Kickoff Classic, and the game did not end until after midnight.
The Purple Pounders hit on a big play to get the scoring started.
Quarterback Jaheim Jones with a roughly 60-yard touchdown toss to a wide open Andrew Bingham to make it 6-0.
The Purple Pounders then recovered a fumble, and Central cashed in with a one yard run from Michael McGhee to make it 12-0.
Jaheim Jones added a 17-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 18-0 when Walker Valley’s offense came to life.
Quarterback Kolten Gibson hit Zeke Westfield for a 52-yard touchdown to make it 18-7.
Those two hooked up on the final play of the first quarter as Westfield made a tough TD catch to make it 18-14.
Central answered on their first series of the second quarter, driving it 80-yards for a touchdown.
McGhee scored from one yard out to make it 24-14.
Central led it 24-17 at halftime on their way to a 48-36 victory.
