Chattanooga citizens concerned about CPD chief candidates

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The search for a new police chief has been narrowed down to 3 candidates – Todd Chamberlain, a Los Angeles Police Department captain, Chattanooga officer Edwin McPherson, and David Roddy, Chattanooga’s acting police chief.

But Concerned Citizens for Justice aren’t sold that one of those 3 men are the person for the job.

“The 2 candidates that are from here have extremely troubling histories, and at many times we believe have been on the wrong side of history as folks have been pressing for changes… it was troubling that we saw there was a finalist from the LA PD period because of the notorious history of the LA PD.”

The concerned citizens for justice believe that there needs to be more community involvement in government and that should be the first step. At next weeks city council meeting, the group will be giving a presentation on participatory budgeting.
