Chattanooga City Council Votes to Rename Heritage Park after Jack Benson

Chattanooga (WDEF) Chattanooga City Council votes to rename a park after a former member, but the move may not make everyone happy.

Heritage Park in East Brainerd will now be known as Jack Benson Heritage Park. Benson, who served three terms on the council, passed away in 2015.

Councilman Larry Grohn, who currently represents East Brainerd, says several community members didn’t want the park renamed. He abstained from the vote, which had been championed by former Mayor Ron Littlefield.

Council also refinanced an old bond last night, saving $3-million in interest.
