Chattanooga city employee suspended

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – A City of Chattanooga employee has been suspended after a Human Resources investigation into a hit and run accident and another incident.

Dr. Valerie Radu is also not allowed to drive city vehicles anymore.

Dr. Radu is the Executive Director of the Family Justice Center.

On September 2nd, officials say she hit a motorcylist and continued on her way.

An investigation said she should have noticed hitting the motorcylist.

The victim has minor injuries.

She was charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

The city immediately put her on administrative leave until she passed a drug test.

The Mayor’s Office then requested HR to look into this incident and other related ones.

In another incident, her city vehicle was damaged in a hotel parking lot.
An HR investigation found she failed to report it to the city properly.

Dr. Radu is now suspended for 15 working days without pay.

She does have the right to appeal this decision.
