Today, they went over the report with the public in detail and got their input.
Even though Sheriff Hammond is retiring, the group still wants changes to be made within the department.
Rev. Dr. William Ladd says, “So, if the policies stay the same, we are going to get the same results. So, we need to have adequate training for the officers in Hamilton County. They need to have good use of force policy, in order to know when too escalate and when not to escalate. So, we are hopeful that the policies will be changed and the new administration after Sheriff Hammond will embrace these policies and make sure that they are implemented.”
The group calls many actions of the Sheriff’s Office into question.
