Chattanooga couple killed in front of a small child; police on the hunt for a suspect
CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – Police are actively searching for a killer who murdered two people in front of a five year old child.
It happened Sunday night inside a home in the 2100 block of East 13th. street.
According to police, a five year old boy call a 911 operator to report that his mother and her boyfriend were shot.
When officer entered the residence, they found the bodies of George Dillard, 24, of Chattanooga and Lakita Hicks, 25, also of Chattanooga.
Hicks’ five year old son witnessed the tragedy but was not touched. He was smart enough to immediately pick up the phone and call for help.
“I can tell you the officers who have observed what this small child did are heart broken by it. They are absolutely determined to find the person or persons who did this to his family,” said Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher.
According to investigators, multiple shots were fired inside the home. They also believe the shooting may have been gang related incident.
“We do know that one of the victims was associated with a street gang. We do not know if the violence was a result of an ongoing beef with another gang,” Fletcher said.
Fletcher was referring to to Dillard. Dillard’s Social media page is filled with pictures of him throwing up gang signs.
Dillard was also no stranger to gun violence. Back on July 4th of 2012, he was one of two people shot multiple times on Fagan Street.
As for the child who witnessed this crime, police say he has been placed with another family member.
