Chattanooga Firefighters Battle Hixson Apartment Fire

A fire heavily damages a Hixson Apartment complex. Everybody made it out okay, but four units are in bad shape. Chattanooga Firefighters were called to Brighton Lane around 6:25 this evening.

The flames could be seen from miles away. Several people were at home when the fire started. One resident started knocking on doors, telling everyone to get out.

Firefighters worked quickly and efficiently to stop the fire before it got past the roofing area. The Battalion Chief says that it is important to remember certain safety tips when your home is on fire.

Battalion Chief Don Bowman Chattanooga Fire Department says, “As far as safety, never go back in of course, make sure that you call for the department right away, try to stay back if the scene and give us as many facts as you can get like the proper address and those types of things when you call it in. That’s a big help.”

The Red Cross will be assisting the residents who were displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
