Chattanooga firefighters rescue 5 from apartment fire
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Firefighters rescued five people who were trapped on their apartment balcony Sunday night. The apartment was on fire, and they were trapped by the flames.
The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to the Elements of Chattanooga Apartments around 10:30 p.m. The apartment fire was on the second floor of Building 16 at 7310 Standifer Gap Road.
Firefighters quickly made entry to the apartment. However, because of the flames, they could not get to the residents.
Other fire crews then went to the balcony to save them.
There were three children and two adults waiting on the balcony for help.
Chattanooga Firefighters helped them down the ladder and to safety.
Shortly after, they extinguished the fire.
The fire department said nobody was injured.
The residents’ apartment was damaged, though, and the apartment complex is assisting them, CFD said.
No other units were damaged.
Authorities are still investigating as well.
