Chattanooga group rallies in support of Unjolee Moore
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A group in Chattanooga is showing their support for a man who they say was wrongly convicted.
Members of Concerned Citizens for Justice held a rally this evening outside the Hamilton County Courthouse.
They feel Unjolee Moore is serving time for a crime he didn’t commit. Moore was convicted of several charges, including felony murder, attempted second degree murder and attempted especially aggravated robbery.
His lawyers want him to have a new trial and demonstrators agree.
“We are just trying to get public support. Get more awareness out. Have people turn out for Unjolee and to just bring awareness for people being falsely incarcerated and serving sentences for crimes they didn’t commit. Of course there has been police involvement with this case, but we just want people to understand that this is not something that is happening in Washington or far away places. This is something that is happening here right in the city of Chattanooga,” said Jasmine Townsend, with Concerned Citizens for Justice.
Moore has a hearing related to his post conviction petition on Thursday in Hamilton County Criminal Court.
