Chattanooga man arrested after alleged kidnapping turns into car chase

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – A Chattanooga man is jail after reportedly kidnapping his ex-girlfriend.

James Favors III, 23, of Chattanooga was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of domestic assault and one count of aggravated burglary.

According to police, Favors kidnapped his ex-girlfriend before leading her relatives on a high speed chase.

It reportedly happened on Saturday.

According to police, the victim was staying at a relatives house when Favors reportedly entered the home uninvited.

Police say within three minutes of entering the home, Favors forced his ex-girlfriend down a flight of stairs while holding both her arms behind her back. He then reportedly forced her into his car before speeding away.

The victim’s relatives reportedly chased Favors through Chattanooga until his car reached dangerous speeds which made it difficult for them to keep up.

A warrant was issued for Favor’s arrest and he was eventually taken into custody.

His bond was set at $20,000 and his next court date is January 5.
