Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke Announces Re-election Campaign
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn (WDEF) – Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke announces his re-election campaign.
His wife, Monica, and two daughters introduced him Tuesday at the Development Resource Center.
In the last three and a half years, Mayor Berke says unemployment numbers have dropped.
He also says the city is working on reducing gun violence.
According to Mayor Berke, there has been progess in that area, but admits more needs to be done to prevent deaths.
Mayor Berke adds, “Public safety remains a priority. Violent crime and property crime have fallen over the last four years. The challenge before us now is the scourge of gun violence. Too many young people have too many illegal guns on too many of our streets.”
Mayor Berke is the second person to announce campaign plans.
Last week, Chattanooga City Councilman Larry Grohn also announced he’s running for mayor.
