Chattanooga PD Adding to Their Crime Analysis Unit

Chattanooga (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Police Department is expanding their Crime
Analysis Unit.

The Unit analyzes crime patterns, geography, and statistics.

The goal is that crunching numbers will help them prevent future crime and solve old ones.

“Predictive analytics will allow us to better anticipate where individuals may be most at risk of being victims and to identify patterns,” said Chief of Police Fred Fletcher. “This increased information will allow us to use finite resources to problem solve in the most effective manner possible.”

The unit is expanding from one to four people.

The department will also work over the next few months to improve their Intelligence Unit.
