Chattanooga PD provides information on financial related scams

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) is providing information on financial-related scams.

They say financial-related scams have existed much longer than mobile payment apps, but these apps give scammers another avenue for taking money.

CPD says they received reports from people who got calls from someone pretending to be with Chime, telling them to download the app and transfer money to it.

They say if you spot a scam or suspect your mobile payment app is hacked, immediately contact the app’s customer service, and then follow up with the FTC and CPD (if you reside in the city limits) to file reports.

CPD says to never give out passwords, PINs, or one-time login codes.
