Chattanooga Police Arrest Shooting Suspect
Chattanooga Police arrested a well-known gang member Monday afternoon.
CPD had been searching for Darius Harris since receiving “shots fired” calls at the Kankus on Brainerd Road Sunday morning,
Chattanooga Police say it was an anonymous tip that led to the arrest of 20-year-old Darius Harris.
“There was an exchange going back and forth in the parking lots as if they were conducting some kind of business we’re not quite sure, said Chattanooga Police Officer Steve Campbell.
Police said that’s when 20-year-old Darius Harris began firing at the 26-year-old David Franklin while he was in his car.
“Mr. Harris and another individual come up to the victim in his car shoot at him point blank several times. the victim started shooting back.”, said Officer Campbell.
CPD officers say they were able to identify Harris from the surveillance footage at the gas station..
Harris is a validated gang member with a rap sheet of charges from 2014.
Authorities said Harris robbed Kevin Albert, who was also a gang member.
Albert murdered last year on the 3100 block of Rosemont Drive.
“Mr. Albert actually murdered just a couple days before he was set to testify against Darius Harris”, said Campbell.
Harris is currently still facing trial for that aggravated robbery
Monday CPD arrested Harris at the Woodlawn apartments after receiving an anonymous tip from a community member.
“When we got there we weren’t quite sure exactly who was going to be in that residence and we were very pleased to find Mr. Harris Someone climbed out the rear window but we had officers stationed there and that person decided well I’m not going to get out the rear window so I’m going to stay here and accept my fate”, said Campbell.
