Chattanooga police look for suspect who crashed into house

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. )WDEF) — Chattanooga Police are looking for a person who crashed into a home and left the scene.

Investigators say shortly after noon a truck crashed through a home on Ocoee Street. Witnesses told officers the driver ran from the scene. According to police, the truck was reported stolen. They say the suspect is a teenage boy, who possibly has twisted short dreads, and was wearing a purple polo style shirt with khaki pants.

Julia Smith lives in the home and was inside when it happened. She’s lived there for 30 years and says she now will stay with family members.

Smith was able to get out safely, but says the incident has her shaken up.

“I was a nervous wreck. It really scared me when it hit. Because I wasn’t expecting it to come down like that, but it did,” Smith said.

Smith hopes the person responsible is caught. If you have any information, you are asked to call Chattanooga Police.
