Chattanooga voted Best Town

After months of casting votes, Chattanooga came out on top again. The Scenic City won first place for the Best Town in the country according to Outdoor Magazine.

Bob Doak, Chattanooga Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau CEO said, "We were all up last night til at least midnight watching the numbers come in, and what an exciting moment that was." The contest started a few months ago featuring 64 different towns, and this week Chattanooga made it to the final two. Doak said, "The vote was very close. We became concerned that we were not going to win, but we never took our foot off the gas. We kept pushing, pushing and pushing, asking for the vote." Chattanooga beat out Port Angeles, Washington by more than 5-thousand votes. Doak said people from all over helped make this possible. Doak said, "This will bring more tourists. Greater brand recognition. And we will further the brand of this great city and what it’s all about."
From our recreational activities, to our sights and our people, Philip Grymes with Outdoor Chattanooga says the title reinforces Chattanooga’s outdoor lifestyle. Philip Grymes, Outdoor Chattanooga Executive Director said, "What really separates Chattanooga is our access and opportunity. There’s wonderful parks right within neighborhoods within a short bike ride or a drive to natural areas like Prentice Cooper or the Tennessee River Gorge and up on Lookout Mountain." Doak said, "The global spotlight will continue to shine bright on our community."

Chattanooga will be featured as the best town in the country in the September issue of Outdoor Magazine.
