Chattanooga woman receives home from Habitat for Humanity
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Chattanooga woman is receiving a Christmas gift she can cherish for a long time – a new home.
Today, Habitat for Humanity dedicated a Cleveland Avenue home to Sharquela ‘Angel’ Porter.
Angel is a single mom to a six-year-old son.
She’s excited to move in, but it takes a lot of hard work to make it happen.
“All of our partner families who are involved in our Habitat homeownership ministry, they go through so much. They have to put in 350 volunteer hours. They have to contribute to their closing costs. They take a series of 20 homeowner education classes. So for all of that to come to this point, it’s just a really special day,” says Cheryl Marsh with Habitat for Humanity.
This is the 264th home dedication for the Chattanooga chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
Porter will move in shortly after the new year.
