Chattanooga PD arrests suspect in Highway 153 shooting

Chattanooga Police made an arrest in the deadly shooting on Highway 153 early this morning.

26-year-old Genesis Vaughn was arrested and faces multiple charges, including criminal homicide and 2 counts of attempted criminal homicide.

According to his arrest report, Vaughn and the victim, 35-year-old Stewart Luttrell, were at the Midnite Oil on Bonny Oaks Drive minutes before the shooting.

The two had a hand-to-hand narcotics transaction at one of the gas pumps.

According to a report, a witness told police that the two vehicles left the gas station.

Vaughn then began shooting at Luttrell’s car, killing Luttrell and injuring a 27-year-old woman.

Their two year-old son was also in the car during the incident.

Reports indicate that Genesis Vaughn has a lengthy criminal history.
