Chattanoogans really love snow

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – Despite the cold temperatures, many people in Chattanooga didn’t mind seeing snow for a change.

What started as a light dusting of snow around 7:30 Tuesday morning eventually turned into a heavier snow fall two hours later. Before long, parts of Chattanooga were barely visible from higher elevations. Despite the sea of white falling from the sky, no one walking the streets of downtown Chattanooga complained.

“I didn’t think it would be this amazing. I did not think it would snow this hard,” said Sarah Hamidi.

“I thought it would be rain because it’s been so warm but I’m glad we got snow,” said AJ Anglim who was out walking her dog.

“I think it’s awesome. It’s like a snow globe. We never get snow. I hope it sticks and I don’t have to go to work,” said Courtney Foster.

Unfortunately for Foster, the snow didn’t stick so staying home from work was likely not an option.

Just before Noon, News 12 caught up with James and Claire Stockman. The couple were taking a nice long walk in the snow with their daughter.

“It’s awesome. It gives us a good day to get out and do fun things with the family today,” said James Stockman.

“I’m a proud Hamilton County teacher so snow days are great days to spend outside with kids,” said Claire Stockman.
