Chattanooga’s Largest Movie Screen Gets Star Wars: The Force Awakens March 11th
Chattanooga (WDEF) Does the force feel stronger when lightsabers are seen in laser 3D?
After months of speculation, the Tennessee Aquarium confirms Star Wars: The Force Awakens will debut on Chattanooga’s largest screen on Friday, March 11th.
Star Wars fans will have several opportunities to experience The Force Awakens with the Aquarium’s new IMAX with Laser projection system. The film will run once daily at 7PM March 11th through April 7th. (**Except March 22 when climber, photographer and National Geographic Young Explorer Max Lowe will be at the IMAX Theater for a special screening of National Parks Adventure 3D.
IMAX with Laser doubles the contrast of standard IMAX 15/70mm film projection adding to the realism perceived by audiences. The 4K lasers also are 50 percent brighter with a wider color gamut.
Director J.J. Abrams also shot a sequence for the film in IMAX 70mm. Viewers will notice a difference during the scene when Rey and Finn try to escape a group of Stormtroopers on Jakku and they jump in the Millennium Falcon to aid in their getaway.
