Chattanooga’s New Year’s baby from 1917 turns 100 years old
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The first New Year’s baby in Chattanooga in 1917 turns 100 today.
Blanche Pilcher has lived in the Scenic City most of her life.
She was born at a home on 13th Avenue shortly after midnight on January first, 19-17.
Today, her friends and neighbors at the Garden Plaza of Greenbriar Cove helped her celebrate her big day.
They offered a special brunch with all of Pilcher’s favorite foods, like fried chicken.
She was also given several gifts and a big pink birthday cake.
“I’m thrilled to death, ’cause I love a big crowd. I just think it’s wonderful that they all come from different parts of the country,” says Pilcher.
Pilcher tells News 12 “the good Lord” is the reason she’s lived such a long, healthy life.
