Chicken spill in truck incident on Broad Street

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Dare we say it.. a fowl situation on South Broad Street this morning.

A chicken truck headed to the Koch’s plant downtown had a traffic incident that sent the chickens flying out of their cages and onto the road.

It happened at Broad and 33rd Street (in front of the WDEF studios).

The driver tells us another driver cut him off, so he slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting them.

The sudden stop sent the chicken cages flying and dumped some of the fowl into the street.

Many of the chickens did not survive.

Crews from Koch’s eventually arrived to clean up the situation, but traffic was diverted around the truck for about an hour.
