Chopper pilot Larry Taylor’s story in Vietnam

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A war hero who calls Chattanooga home stopped by News 12 This Morning accompanied by a music crew.

Army Captain Larry Taylor flew Cobra helicopters in Vietnam.

His service earned him a Silver Star, and he is being considered for the Medal of Honor as well.

Captain Taylor heroically rescued four servicemen who were surrounded and under fire in a Vietnamese rice field.

He came by with a music group out of Nashville that writes songs about war experiences.

“They went out, met Charlie in the jungle and kicked his butt as best they could. Then they would call us and say we could use some help. And we would go get them out. I was just doing my job. They would’ve done the same for me.””

The music group is called Freedom Sings USA.

They’re a group of award-winning songwriters who compose and record songs and videos about veterans’ experiences.
