City Council Candidates Speak At Forum

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- City council candidates also had a chance to speak out at the same event this afternoon.

Six of the 9 seats on city council are up for grabs in March.

District one has incumbent Chip Henderson facing business owner Jay Nevans, and Susan Miller. District 2 finds retired Navy Captain Mickey McCamish against incumbent Jerry Mitchell.

Over in District 5, Cynthia Stanley-Cash and Jeffrey Evans face Russell Gilbert who now holds the seat.

In District 7, it’s Manny Rico and Erskine Oglesby, Jr. against current council member Chris Anderson.

“Our local politics, what happens has such a direct impact on property rights, property values, and what it does for real estate business in the greater Chattanooga area. There decisions are very important to us so its always very important to us that we get behind the right candidate,” said Randy Durham.

In District 8, it’s incumbent Moses Freeman against Anthony Byrd and Thomas Kunesh.

In District 9, incumbent Yusuf Hakeem faces Demetrus Coonrod, Pat Benson and John Kerns.
